Good Friday/Earth Day fiasco

Hi everyone. I know it's been a long time since I've made a post. I've been preparing for Easter, as I hope you've all been doing. There's some good and bad news coming from the holiday circuit. The good news is that Easter is in only 2 days! And, Halloween is only 192 days away! We're finally out of the "terrible two-hundreds"! To a normal person, 192 days seem like a long time. But to me, a holiday fanatic, it seems like tomorrow, especially because of holidays' magical power of sneaking up on the unexpected. I swear, holidays are like thieves in the night. No one will see them come, no one will see them go. They are very tricky, holidays are. But, now to the bad news. Well, for the first time in recent memory, today, we have two holidays to celebrate! I know, sounds cool, right? WRONG. If I had a combination of holidays to celebrate on the same day, and go with more of a Easter/Christmas, Halloween/Friday the 13th, Christmas in July/July 4th, and even my Birthday/sister's Birthday. However, in perhaps the strangest combination ever, today we celebrate Good Friday/Earth Day. Now, even though I like a holiday combination, no matter what the holidays might be, there is a nagging problem here. Earth Day is about taking care of our planet, with recycling, planting a tree, etc. Good Friday is when we remember our good lord Jesus Christ's crucifixion on the cross for our sins. Now, granted, I'm all for taking care of our planet, but which seems like the more important holiday, from a religious standpoint? However, our society continues to crumble, as the internet and the media choose to acknowledge Earth Day, and Good Friday falls into obscurity. Even Google has decided to put on an Earth Day logo on their homepage, no mention of Good Friday. The least they could do is put a logo that has a mixture of both Earth Day and Good Friday. However, society refuses to even acknowledge religion of any kind, even though 78.4% of Americans are Christian. What is wrong here? Is there a solution, I don't think so. This just adds to me theory that we are nearing Armageddon, due to our society going downhill fast. Oh well, at least we have Easter in a couple of days. Wait, am I allowed to call it that?

  1. Great blog Josh. You convey your feelings very well! I would take issue with the Armageddon thing though. Civilizations rise and fall throughout history. We could be looking at an Armageddon of sorts for America, but even that is unlikely anytime soon.

I noticed the Google earth day thing as well... They are so politically correct it's ridiculous!
